WJ III - $80 Individual (-$10 siblings) Woodcock Johnson III Tests of Achievement
We administer the Woodcock - Johnson ® Tests of Achievement. It is nationally standardized and accepted by NCDNPE for annual (EOG) testing for homeschoolers. To have your child tested, simply make an appointment ~ we will take care of the rest. When you arrive at our office, your child will be tested one - on - one with a trained administrator. Siblings can be tested together for the first hour, then taken one at a time to complete the test. Immediately following your child's testing session, scores will be compiled. You will receive a seven-page score report and a thorough explanation of the scores.
The Standard Battery of the WJIII is comprised of 9 sub-test:
- Reading - Word Identification, Fluency, Comprehension
- Mathematics - Calculation, Fluency, Mathematical Application
- Written Language - Spelling, Writing Fluency (Sentence writing), Writing Samples
- Academic Knowledge* - Social Studies, Science, Humanities* The Academic Knowledge test is not part of the Standard Battery as NC does not require testing in these areas. If you want to add these scores to your test, please let us know when you schedule your appointment. Add $15 for this 3-part test.
The entire achievement battery is comprised of 22 tests. Other tests are often used to further assess your child’s educational needs. We can customize a test just for your child.

A Word About Special Needs and Gifted Children
The WJIII is a good testing choice for any student, but it is particularly good for a child with special needs or for a child who has a 504 or IEP plan. Testing takes 1.5 - 2 hours and is more interactive than a "bubble in the circle" test. Except for the short fluency tests, the test progresses at the pace of the child and is not timed. Because this test is individual, it is easy to make accommodations for students who need them. We test quite a few children with learning disabilities, autism, processing disorders and enjoy working with them very much.
This test is a great choice for the average or gifted student as well because the test will allow your child to work to the highest grade level possible and measures up to graduate levels of college. You will receive a grade equivalency based on your child's abilities, as well as scores that compare him/her to grade level peers. This test is used to qualify gifted students for the Duke Tip Program.
